Colin O'Donoghue, Anthony Hopkins and CiarĂ¡n HindsI know not everyone will like this type of movies. but it cant hurt trying this one, because its worth the try. It has spine chilling elements (maybe only when you watch it in surround sound), There are parts wherein you'd hear awesome yet spooky demonic whispers during the movie over the theater walls adding suspense and horror to it. I had moments when I literally shook from head to toe due to the sudden blasting sound effects that came through the theater, the freaky body contortions of 'Father Lukas' by Anthony Hopkins is startling or other possessed people and the great convincing real looking special effects not to obvious but real looking.
I like also how the plot involves the questioning of faith and made me also fear the devil and pause and think about it while watching. For an exorcism movie which most are boring and repetitive and quite predictable , this one/ the plot revolves in a slight different way, 'Father Michael Kovak' played by Colin O'Donoghue , is in the process of identifying his question in his faith in God and the Devil, which came from his Mothers early death while he was a child, I like the camera angles and the editing , quality wise it was worth it , truly a budget for a Big Hollywood movie.
The only downside on this movie is the 'dark' elements in it Anthony Hopkins is great at his usual petrifying acting, he has that darkness in him even as a 'saintly' priest (like some of his movies where he plays a creepy psycho Hannibal (2001)), the usual occurring events of 'death' in the movie has this 'dark vibe' it makes you feel 'sad' and 'scared' during the whole experience.
But overall its worth the money, a couple of hundred bucks and you'll be enjoying every shiver and every pop of popcorn you'll devour Its worth the scare too. Believe me when I say it
